Not to miss on your trip to Tokyo is Kaguwa, a restaurant with a twist! Located in trendy Roppongi, Kaguwa is an Oiran and Geisha Cabaret Show. Think French Cabaret but Japanese style! Enjoy a one-of-a-kind spectacular performance by Geisha, Samurai, Oiran, traditional dancers.

Feel free to follow favy!

A Unique Japanese Cabaret Show

Don't miss this extravagant show! Kaguwa has a long history of producing overseas performances. They were so popular that a restaurant and show was created to permanently house the "eatertainment" with a beautiful display of geisha, samurai, and oiran performances.
There is two kinds of shows at Kaguwa - Oiran-za and Biou-za. The show is based around the culture of the red-light district from the Meiji era (1868-1912) when the oiran (Japanese courtesans) were known as masters of entertainment, cultural arts and conversation.
You'll see everything from kimono-wearing oirans to samurai warriors, inflatable dragons, and nerdy golf players! (yes it's not a joke lol).

Compared to a traditional cabaret, like Moulin Rouge, it is much less risque and with basically no nudity. But what is great about this show is the mix of modern Japanese culture with old traditions, with a slight undertone of homo-eroticism and the paradoxes of Japanese culture.
The restaurant has a huge capacity of around 160 seats, with full views of the stage performances.

The food

A popular way to enjoy the show is to get one of the original Japanese cuisine meals in a bento box! If you go for the course you'll get food, all you can drink, and admission, starting at 5,500 yen per person. Bargain!
On the flip side you can just pay for admission and go a-la-carte style and order from the menu. Popular dishes include Beef tataki (1100 yen), Roasted sea bass (1300 yen), Fried yam with Japanese Ume and Basil sauce (690 yen), and some limited time only dishes like Horse sashimi!

The Deets

Kaguwa runs two daily night shows from 6pm and weekend afternoon shows from 3:45pm. Show only tickets start at 3500 yen per person, excluding service charges and food and drink minimum purchases. Go for the course set - it's far better value.

To get there, take exit 3 from Roppongi station and walk about 5 mins south-east of the station.
