After the massive success of his permanent cafe in Osaka and his pop-up cafe in Tokyo, lazy egg Gudetama is opening a new Cafe near Nagoya Castle! For the first time, he's collaborating with Pompompurin, another endearing character by the Japanese company Sanrio!
Gudetama the egg, a character by Sanrio (same company that has brought us Hello Kitty), has become unwittingly an international sensation for just being lazy and appearing to be struggling and complaining no matter what he does. His name in Japanese comes from "gudegude" which means something along the lines of being dead drunk.
Gudetama Cafe In Nagoya
Gudetama's themed cafe has been a massive success in Osaka and the new branch opening on April 17th, 2018, in Nagoya is more than likely going to be a huge hit too, given that it will serve the same Gudetama themed dishes and some novelties too! For the first time, you'll see the lazy egg collaborating with another Sanrio character called Pompompurin.
Pompompurin has his own original cafe in Tokyo
Collects shoes as a hobby Has a talent for napping Loves his mama's cream caramel pudding
The mountain roast beef don is a classic of the Osaka original cafe. Gudetama is at the summit of a juicy mountain of meat on which is poured a nice amount of onion sauce!
Tempura Don I Don't Want To Leave For Battle! (やだー出陣～！ぐで天丼)
This is a Nagoya branch original! A tempura bowl with Gudetama as a samurai warrior.
This is a neat Nagoya classic done Pompompurin style! Hitsumabushi is a famous local specialty that consists of a bowl of rice with grilled eel (unagi) topping. Typically, you eat it as is first, then halfway through the bowl, you pour some soup in it to make it a savoury porridge.
Gudetama And Pompompurin At The Castle (ぐでたま＆ポムポムプリン IN お城)
This is obviously another Nagoya original. The two characters are presumably standing in front Nagoya Castle, which is made of fluffy matcha cake!
Mango And Berry Dessert Plate
You get him in two versions in the custard-based dessert. One with mango and the other one with strawberries. Each one comes with its special sauce to pour on him.
Drinks are available too!
If you are a Gudetama fan and are visiting Osaka, you might want to check out the cafe there too.
