It should be on the top of your list if you're looking for an ideal authentic bar experience in Fukuoka.

Petros ペトロス

If you're a wine fan, you will definitely love Petros! It has a wide selection of some of the best wines in the world, and the staff is very knowledgeable too so you should ask for some of their expert advice when choosing your wine. Petros is essentially a dining bar so you can order some light meals and entrees to pair with your drink.

The atmosphere is very classy and modern, with a relaxing warm lighting. There are some sofa seats that are ideal if you're looking to spend a relaxing evening in a small group.

There is a ¥1,500 charge to get in, and the place is quite high-end so expect to pay about ¥6,000 or more.


The wooden interior of Imuri, with its large windows and simple clean-lined design, is gorgeous! The place is famous for its amazing night view as well. If the weather allows, you should definitely consider having a seat on the spacious terrace.

Imuri doubles as a cafe-restaurant during the day, and at night it is a dining bar that specializes in fish and seafood cuisine. You can have course meals from about ¥5,000. It's also possible to just have drinks.

Sumiyoshi Suhan 住吉酒販

For delicious Japanese sake and shochu, you have to try this place! Beware however that this is a small standing bar in which there is only enough space for seven people. Standing bars are a quintessential Japanese experience. You can chat with the people next to you while enjoying high-end drinks at a very reasonable price.

Bar Higuchi バー ヒグチ

This bar is a nice classic one with some of the best drinks in town. If you go there, you have to try their signature Moscow Mule made with 50% ginger-infused vodka. Because it's such a classy bar with great service and great drinks, you'd expect it to be really expensive but it's actually not! Most people report spending around ¥3,000 when they go.
