Perfect for Summer! 5 Must-try Soba Restaurants in Osaka

Osaka City

Soba is a buckwheat noodles that is very popular in Japan. It is commonly eaten with soy based dipping sauce with cold soba noodles. It is available nationwide, and of course Japan's foodie town, Osaka, has a lot of soba places that you should try (some of them were featured on Michelin Guide too!), so check the following places!

Takama (たかま)

Bring your tissue with you because you might shed tears from eating their beautiful soba. With its history of obtaining Michelin one star, Takama is very popular among tourists and local people, this place is probably one of the top soba restaurants in Kansai (west part of Japan) region. You can enjoy their soba for around ¥950~2000.
Around a 5 minute walk from Tenjinbashisuji 6-choume station.

Noda (乃田)

Located less than a minute walk from Kouzu station, Noda is also one of the best soba restaurants in Osaka. Since it is so popular you might have to wait in line depending on when you go. Their duck-soup soba (¥1,240) is a must-try. They have both hot and cold soba, so you can choose whichever you want depending on your mood and the weather. Their portion could be small, so some people ask for a large size. Their soba is available from ¥830 to ¥1,240.

Ayamedou (文目堂)

Just a minute walk from Tanimachi 6-choume station, you will see a retro looking restaurant called Ayamezou. This store also received one star for Michelin, which tell us how great their soba is. Their dipping sauce is light and refreshing, which is perfect for a hot summer day.
You can try their soba from ¥800~1,300.

Makino (まき埜)

This place is famous for their delicious dipping sauce as well as their refreshing sudachi (a type of citrus) soba (¥1,100). They were also featured on Michelin too! Around a 10 minute walk from Osaka station or Fukushima station.

Akari (手打ちそば 星)

Located in Dotonbori area, around a 5 minute walk from Nihonbashi station, this place offers a freshly made soba! Their soba is popular, but the fact that they are open until really late (2 am on Fridays and Saturdays, 12 am during weekdays and sunday)!
It is also recommended to make a reservation. If you are looking for a place to eat soba around Dotonbori area, this is where you should go!
Their soba is available from ¥900~1,900.

Lastly...

There are lots of strongly recommended soba restaurants in Osaka. Some places could be a little too far from the touristy area, but it would be a great experience to see what the other parts of Osaka look like. Depending on where you are planning to visit, try one of the restaurants mentioned above!
