Kyoto's really famous for their green tea culture, but did you know that they also have so many amazing coffee shops? Try the following places in the most authentic cities in Japan, Kyoto!

% ARABICA is a really popular coffee shop in Kyoto, and they have three stores in Kyoto, one in Higashiyama, Arashiyama and Kyoto Fujii Daimaru. The one in Higashiyama is located around a 15 minute walk distance from Shimizu Gojo station or Gion Shijo station, and you can stop by on the way to Kiyomizu Temple. Surrounded by traditional looking buildings, this coffee shop has a modern and refined atmosphere, usually with people lining up to try their greatest coffee.
Their cafe latte made by Custom Slayer espresso machine is a must-try! If your company isn't a coffee person, don't worry, because they also have lemonades! However, just keep in mind that it could sell out really quick. You can also purchase beans from them, which they will roast on the spot to the level you want.
This long-established coffee shop is located at a 10 minute walking distance from Karasumaoike station. It is popular among all ages, and people love their coffee! This is their main store, and they have several branches across Japan.
Their coffee's distinctive point is that it comes with sugar and milk in the coffee. It makes their coffee richer and more flavorful. Of course they will ask you if you want milk and sugar, and you can drink it straight too, but if you want to have Inoda's specialty coffee experience, you should go for "Arabian Pearl", which is a coffee with milk. They also have sandwiches, so if you are hungry you can try them too.
Vermillion Espresso Bar
If you're near Fushimi Inari and looking for a place to have a cup of coffee, check out Vermillion Espresso Bar, located just a 2 minute walk distance from Inari station. You pay first and they'll bring you their delicious coffee!
Their refined latte is a must-try! They use coffee beans blended by WEEKENDERS COFFEE (look below for more information on WEEKENDERS COFFEE!), and offer black coffee, cafe latte and cappuccino made from sophisticated espresso machine. They also have cakes too, so if you want something sweet that goes well with your coffee, it's worth checking out. Their Uji matcha tea latte is also popular among tourists and locals.
Efish is located near Shimizu Gojo station, by a popular scenery, Kamogawa river. It's a cafe where you can have sandwiches and curry rice, but their coffee is such a high quality! You can feel the breeze of Kamogawa, making your stay at Efish more comfortable with great scenery and nature.
They offer specialty coffee, cafe latte, espresso, cappuccino and cafe mocha! Other menus include tea and cocoa, juice, cakes, sandwiches, soup, salads, etc, and they're all unique. It is a perfect place to have a relaxing time while you are in Kyoto.
Espresso Cafe Phalam
Located in front of JR Nijo station, Cafe Phalam is a cafe where they serve specialty coffee at a very reasonable price. It's a really friendly and spacious cafe with accessibility services available for wheelchairs and strollers.
Their coffee is made of espresso machines. You order and pay first, and the clerks will bring you the freshly made coffee and pour it right in front of you! Their organic burgers and lunch menus are also worth checking out.
WEEKENDERS CAFE is a hidden coffee shop located at the back of a parking lot located near Tominokoji-dori. The store is open from 7:30 am til 6:00 pm. It is around a 10 minute walk from Kawaramachi station, so it is quite accessible, but it could be a little difficult yet thrilling and exciting to find this coffee shop!
Their coffee is made by a passionate owner who loves coffee from bottom of his heart. If you love coffee and if coffee's something you're picky about, you should definitely visit here! Their coffee menu is expansive, and offer drip coffee, espresso, cappuccino, cafe latte, and more! They also offer sparkling iced coffee which is perfect for summer!
CIRCUS COFFEE is a shop specialized in selling coffee beans (not a cafe!), located 1,066m away from Kita-Oji station. It is built in a renovated old house that was established 100 years ago, and CIRCUS COFFEE offers exciting experience along with their home-like atmosphere.
Their coffee beans are selected from different parts of the world, along with interesting facts and stories. The owner takes coffee seriously, and he deeply cares about their coffee. Enjoy their top-notch coffee beans here!
Ogawa Coffee is a really famous coffee shop located in Kyoto station! It has a stylish and novel ambience, and the coffee is served by the world championship barista!
